My pregnancy was pretty good overall. I was pretty nauseous early on and couldn't chew gum (the tell all that I'm preggers). Around 20 weeks I started having crazy heart palpitations for hours and hours at a time, I would just cry and cry because my arms would go numb and I would have a hard time breathing. I knew I was going to die, haha. The dr decided I should switch allergy medicine from Claritin to Zyrtek and that seemed to do the trick (for the most part)... weird I know. Then around 30 weeks I got an insane ear infection. I got one when I was pregnant with Amelia too- they are the worst. My favorite thing about being pregnant is feeling the baby move (even late at night ;) ) and not feeling guilty about indulging every now and again :)
On September 13 at 6:00 pm I went into the hospital to get Cervadil. I was only dialated to a one so this was supposed to get things moving before they started the Pitocin. It was a long, long crampy night and guess what in the morning I was still a one! I wanted to bawl. They stared Pitocin around 8 and around 10 (I think) my dr came in to break my water. I was only a 2 and getting my water broke hurt like crazy!!! My nurse said there was some scheduled c-sections so I should get an epidural soon if I thought I needed it. My contractions hurt but not way bad but I decided to get the epidural then anyway. Best thing ever. I love epidurals, seriously it was the best I had felt in 9 months!! Well fast forward a little while and wham! I started having the most intense contractions. Austin pushed the epidural button for me because I was in so much pain I couldn't do it myself. I was just bawling and bawling. Austin paged the nurse and asked if I could get more medicine into my epidural or whatever they do. It felt like forever (it was probably like only 10 minutes) and the anesthesiologist came and increased the meds. My nurse came in and decided to check me and I was an 8!!!! I went from a 2 to an 8 in like no time at all. Pretty soon I was feeling the urge to push. She called my dr, they started prepping my room and before I knew it, it was time to push. Austin told me he'd give me a thousand bucks if I pushed him out first try. We laughed about what we'd each do with $1,000 and I decided it was a good downpayment for our next disneyland trip :) the dr came in and after 2 or 3 pushes I could see his head, it was so scary- he was deep deep purple and I started freaking out a little. The cord was wrapped really tightly around his neck with his little hand wrapped in it too (against his neck). I knew I needed to get him out now! So from practice push to holding my baby was only 7 minutes-whew! It was so nice to just hold my little guy and I was so overwhelmed with love for him. He has born at 2:37 pm and weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and was 21 inches long. I'm really grateful for this sweet little boy in our family. There is nothing more rewarding than having my entire little family together. I seriously love being a mother even though sometimes it is incredibly hard and tiring. The story behind Andrew's name is pretty cool but I will save that for another day :)
Right after Andrew was born.
